Some worrying details that pertain to Tampa Bay Rays shortstop Wander Franco have emerged.
The 22-year-old is one of the best players in the MLB at the moment, but he could soon experience some life-changing events based on what’s now being rumored.
Franco was not in the Rays lineup this Sunday, with manager Kevin Cash citing a regular day off. Stories coming from social media, however, have shed some negative light.
MLB.com has also published a report addressing claims that the player was involved in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
“The Rays released a statement Sunday night noting that Major League Baseball is looking into social media posts about star shortstop Wander Franco that surfaced earlier in the day,” the report reads.
“During today’s game, we were made aware of the social media posts that are circulating regarding Wander Franco,” the club’s statement said. “We take the situation seriously and are in close contact with Major League Baseball as it conducts its due diligence.”
“On Sunday, social media posts went viral alleging that Franco, 22, had been in an inappropriate relationship with a minor.”
These remain unfounded, but they are very serious allegations, and Wander could be in some hot water should an investigation point to a case needing answering.

The Rays are being very careful with this one given its sensitivity plus the fact that the claims are unproven.
The Rays lost 9-2 to the Cleveland Guardians on the day.
“I’m aware of the speculation. I’m not going to comment any further on that,” Cash noted. “But the day off was because [it was] a day off.”
Tampa Bay will begin a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants today.
