A Little League state championship tournament in North Carolina was marred by a startling fight between an umpire and a coach.
Things got ugly during Monday’s 12-and-under fixture between Cherryville and Bull City when a coach from the Cherryville team approached the ump and got in his face.
The official, who WRAL has identified as Robby Beamon, is heard telling the coach he should be removed from the game because of his profanity before he gets shoved in the video below. Beamon retaliates by swinging his mask at the coach several times.
Another Cherryville coach tries to stop the melee before they all exit the shot. No other coaches, parents, or players from the Bull City team intervened.

The City Has Condemned Monday’s Little League Altercation
According to WRAL, the scuffle lasted just over a minute. The news station also noted that no charges were filed, though there was a police response. CBS 17 has reported that both men are facing suspensions from city officials.
“We have no tolerance for this type of behavior,” Wilson Parks and Recreation Director David Lee told said stations in a statement. “There are a lot of people working hard to make sure our youth are having a positive experience and it’s just unfortunate and honestly embarrassing that two adults ruined that last night.”
On a brighter note, the Little League state tourney continued as planned despite the shocking and dramatic interruption.
