The New York Mets did something exceptional before a game as they honored a World War II veteran. For those that are unaware, World War II lasted from 1939 to 1945.
During this Friday’s season opener for the New York Mets, there was a break in the action to honor the veteran because he deserved the praise for everything that he had done and for still being healthy enough to walk this Earth.
He went insanely viral because the New York Mets announcer called out his name to the sold out crowd: Seymour Weiner.
After the New York Mets announced his name at Citi Field — Weiner immediately became a star on social media:

There is zero chance that the New York Mets announcer did not laugh to himself when he first read that name aloud.
Unfortunately for Seymour Weiner, he did not come to the New York mets game and see a win.

Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Freddy Peralta allowed only a solo home run to Starling Marte and a walk and struck out eight over six innings and 92 pitches to beat the New York Mets 3-1 in their contentious season opener Friday.
It should be mentioned that tempers did flare and we had our first benches clearing acton of the 2024 season when Brewers player Rhys Hoskins slid hard into second baseman Jeff McNeil on a potential double-play ball in the eighth. McNeil hated it and let him know about it.
Both benches and bullpens emptied onto the field but both teams would keep ther distance.
New York Mets Looking to Rebound From Terrible 2023 Season
The New York Mets are coming off an expensive flop in 2023 after the team came into the year with World Series aspirations following a 101-win season and a playoff appearance the year before.
The team had the highest payroll in baseball history and they still finished fourth in the NL East at 75-87, via Sportrac.com. Now, the team is hopping they can get back to their winning ways and make their way through this grueling season and make a deep playoff run.
