Baseball fans are losing their minds after Philadelphia Phillies superstar Bryce Harper decided to join the fun on the new viral “Hawk Tuah” internet meme.
Bryce Harper is in the midst of another MVP-caliber season for the Phillies. Entering play on Saturday, the 31-year-old is batting .285 with 17 homers, 48 RBI, 46 walks and an OPS of .928.
And moments after hitting a double in Friday night’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, Harper paid homage to this whole “Hawk Tuah” thing.
First, some context.
Over the past few days, a TikTok video has gone viral showing a woman being asked about a move that would make a man go crazy every time. In the video, the woman performs a spitting gesture and says, “Hawk Tuah.”
After hitting a double against the Diamondbacks, Harper celebrated with the “Hawk Tuah” move before throwing up a peace sign:

And baseball fans were losing their minds over it:
Bryce Harper went 1-4 in the 5-4 loss to the defending NL champions. Nonetheless, the Phillies still carry a comfortable six-game lead on the Atlanta Braves for tops in the NL East heading into this weekend.
The two teams will conclude their series, a rematch of the 2023 NLCS, in Philadelphia tomorrow. The Phillies will then travel to Motor City to begin a three-game set with the Detroit Tigers on Monday.
Bryce Harper & Phillies Look Like The NL Team To Beat
The Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers (following the Shohei Ohtani signing) entered 2024 as the two consensus favorites to win the NL pennant. But the Phillies, who have reached the NLCS in consecutive years, certainly look like the team to beat as we near the midway point of the season.
Coming into the weekend, the Phillies had the fourth-most runs scored as well as the best ERA in baseball at 3.15. With Harper pacing a prolific offense, the Phillies should be considered the NL favorites over both Atlanta and Los Angeles.
