An individual who is believed to have purposely butchered the national anthem at a Pittsburgh Pirates game has been taking heat after controversially changing the words to the patriotic song.
The performer altered the words of the ‘Star Spangled Banner’ before the game, changing “and the rocket’s red glare” to “And the rocket’s blue glare.”
Needless to say, Pittsburgh Pirates fans were not best pleased.
“At the :50 mark. This is totally embarrassing and self-important. This guy — Bethany Hallam’s boyfriend — sang the anthem last night at the Pirates game and changed the lyrics to “…and the rockets’ blue glare ….,'” one wrote as they reposted the video.
“Everything is a political statement with these goofs. Everything. Everything is a joke and viewed by these goofs as a chance to push their silly agenda. Just sing the song. Goof.
“And here comes all the “it was just an honest mistake!!!” people who build an identity on self-victimization. We aren’t dumb. Save it.”

Pittsburgh Pirates National Anthem Singer Not Getting Much Sympathy Online
Most agreed that this was disrespectful to the anthem.
“I appreciate the fact that you are pointing out this nonsense. I just hope that you see that both sides of the extreme are a joke. And both are dangerous,” one fan said.
“If you’ve been paying attention to the Florida panther games, every national anthem every time and the rockets RED glare the whole stadium sings red. Yea blue glare ain’t a mess up accidentally,” a second added.
“Every American knows the national anthem, it’s what we’re taught from the beginning of our lives. This ain’t a mistake. You don’t confuse red and blue when the words are on the screen and in your ear,” a third wrote.
“Yea blue glare ain’t a mess up accidentally.”
It appears the singer would have a hard time convincing people this was a mistake. Then again, he might not even try.
