The 25-year-old Mason Miller is off to a dazzling start for the Athletics, posting nine saves with a ridiculous 0.89 ERA in 16 game appearances. Miller already has 41 strikeouts and has only issued five walks in 20.1 innings pitched.

Mason Miller is one of the biggest names to follow leading up to this year’s trade deadline. The Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal recently reported that a team who wants Miller “likely would need to give up a young player of comparable ability, or a substantial package of multiple youngsters who could be part of the A’s future.”
Playoff games are often determined by a team’s bullpen’s success. So, if the Athletics decide to shop Miller, they can expect a long list of interested teams leading up to the 2024 trade deadline.
Oakland entered play on Thursday with a 20-31 record, which is considerably better than what most expected this year. They’ll wrap up their homestand with a three-game set against the AL West rival Houston Astros this weekend.

It’s not easy finding consistent and reliable closers in today’s league, but the Athletics have one in Miller. He’s already on pace to piece together one of the greatest seasons ever for a reliever, and to think there are more than 100 games to play.
