Minnesota Twins star pitcher Joe Ryan was caught doing something, ahem, out of the ordinary in Monday night’s game against the Chicago White Sox.
Yesterday was an off day for Ryan, who pitched against the Houston Astros on Saturday. Yet, the 28-year-old somehow made headlines during the Minnesota Twins’ visit to Windy City yesterday.
Cameras caught Ryan speaking to teammate Carlos Correa in the top half of the seventh inning following the shortstop’s home run. While the broadcast was on the Minnesota dugout, Ryan was seen pouring a strange substance down his pants:

Ryan has pieced together the best season of his young MLB career thus far. He is 6-5 with a 3.29 ERA (currently his best mark) with 118 strikeouts against only 16 walks in 109.1 innings pitched.
Minnesota is five games behind the Cleveland Guardians for first in the AL Central, a division the Twins won a year ago. They’re 2.5 behind the slumping New York Yankees for the top AL Wild Card spot, and 3.5 clear of the Kansas City Royals, who are on the outside looking in.

But the team is clicking on all cylinders now, and they already look like a team nobody will want to face in October. The Twins ended their unbelievable 18-game postseason losing streak last year by sweeping the Toronto Blue Jays in the Wild Card Series, so that’s one mental hurdle cleared as they try to win their first championship in 33 years.
