A fan at the Minnesota Twins-Tampa Bay Rays game at Tropicana Field on Monday was knocked unconscious — but thankfully not seriously injured — after trying to catch Trevor Larnach’s home run ball in right field.
In the top of the second inning, Trevor Larnach destroyed a slider from Zack Littell 112 MPH off the bat and into the right field seats to put the Twins up 4-2.
If you look closely at the fan in the black shirt (right above the “P” of the green and white “RIPA sign”) at the :07 mark of the video below, you’ll see he was knocked right out in an attempt to catch the ball with his bare hands:
Per Twins reporter Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com, the fan was okay and avoided a serious injury. Trevor Larnach actually brought the fan and his kids onto the field and gave them a signed ball and a baseball bat.
“He was in great spirits,” Larnach said, via Park. “We just had some good laughs and a good conversation.”

Larnach was 1-for-3 on the day with two walks and a strikeout to go along with his game-changing three-run dinger. The Twins held on for a 5-4 lead to improve to 75-62, putting them closer to locking down a playoff spot.
Game two of the four-game set goes Tuesday at 6:50 p.m. EST. After wrapping up the series on Thursday, the Twins will travel to Kansas City for a three-game weekend series against the AL Central rival Royals.
Trevor Larnach Has Twins On Cusp Of Another Playoff Appearance
The Twins have overcome an ugly 6-12 start and are a virtual lock to make the postseason for the fourth time in six years. That is largely thanks to the efforts of Trevor Larnach, who’s enjoying a career year with 15 homers, 48 RBI, a .254 batting average (.231 was his previous best) and an OPS of .784.
Minnesota is 3.5 behind the Cleveland Guardians for tops in the AL Cental, but also 5.5 clear of the Boston Red Sox for a wild card berth.
