On Tuesday, the Cleveland Guardians would get their 71st win of the season by narrowly defeating the Chicago Cubs, 2-1.
It was a tight game as both sides would enter the sixth inning tied at 1 when Cleveland Guardians star Jhonkensy Noel stepped into the batter’s box.
A 2-2 pitch sent to him would absolutely get smashed for a 430-foot home run that would prove to be the winning run for the Cleveland Guardians.
That home run would end up going insanely viral online, not because of how far it went, but because of what the Cleveland Guardians announcers had to say about it, as well as the opposing pitcher.
Rick Manning, the analyst on Bally Sports who helps call Cleveland Guardians games, is getting called out after his inappropriate call about Chicago Cubs pitcher Drew Smyly tossing a breaking ball that didn’t break to Jhonkensy Noel.
“Oh, Smyly,” Manning said. “He wants to kill himself. He hung him a breaking ball, and boy, Noel took advantage of it.”

That is just terrible phrasing and not something you can say on air.
Manning knows better, as he played for Cleveland from 1975 to 1983 during his MLB career. He would soon join the broadcast booth for the team in 1990 and has remained a color analyst ever since.
As of now, he has not faced punishment, nor has he released a statement on his actions.
Cleveland Guardians Trying To Break Bad Playoff Streak
The Cleveland Guardians franchise has enjoyed success recently with getting to the postseason.
However, they aren’t doing much when they get there.
The team has been in the playoffs five times in the last eight years but the team hasn’t gotten past the division series to the championship series since 2016 when they lost in the World Series, per Baseball Reference.
