There are two things Vegas Dave loves to do: Make money and flex on his haters who dislike him with a passion.
Dave gave them even more reason to hate him this week after he sold a rare signed rookie card by Los Angeles Angels superstar Mike Trout for a record-setting $3.93 million at auction.
The previous record-holder for the most valuable trading card ever sold was the T206 Honus Wagner card, which was purchased for $3.12 million in September of 2016.
Dave Oancea, known as “Vegas Dave,” first purchased the card back in 2018 for $400,000 on eBay from a seller based in Taiwan.
“A lot of people had a lot of negative things to say, that I was crazy, you know,” Oancea told Reuters earlier this month. “‘You could have bought a house,’ ‘You could have bought this and that,’ that I’m stupid and it’s a piece of cardboard.”

“Mike Trout’s the best modern-day baseball player that we’ve ever seen. We’ll probably never see another player like this again. And it’s also supply and demand. There’s one in the world, and right now the baseball card market is booming,” said Oancea.
After the announcement, Dave made sure to flex on his haters and rub it in:
“4 million dollars. I just flipped a piece of cardboard for 3.6 million dollars in 24 months which required no manual labor. That’s more money than each of my critics will ever make working a 9-5 for 40 hours a week for 40 years for a boss they don’t like even like.Cheers haters”
