MLB umpire Phil Cuzzi proved it’s not only players and coaches who can hold their own in a shouting match.
Veteran umpire Phil Cuzzi got scrappy with the Astros dugout on Tuesday night and one person was sent to the showers early. Hot mics picked up a NSFW exchange between Houston Astros hitting coach Alex Cintrón and home plate umpire Phil Cuzzi as both of them had some crazy language to display on this night.
After a questionable called strike in the sixth inning of the Astros’ game against the Orioles, Cuzzi grew tired of Cintrón and the Astros bench and their complaining.
Cintrón responded with, “F— you.”
The mics picked up Cuzzi’s immediate response:
“F— me? F— you!” as he ejected Cintrón from the game.

This marked Cintron’s second ejection this season and fifth since 2019.
Cuzzi, like every other umpire, cannot stand when players and coaches argue about balls and strikes. It’s rare that we get unfiltered back-and-forth between coaches and umpires, which has us wondering why mics wouldn’t be around to catch this sort of thing all the time.
Do you want to help grow the game and bring in a younger audience? Mic up everybody on the field and let’s have some real fun.
As for the game, the Orioles would go on to win this game and the series as they took two of three from the defending World Series Champions.
