Minnesota Twins’ star Byron Buxton was injured in a scary collision during Wednesday afternoon’s game against the Chicago White Sox.
In the bottom of the seventh inning at Target Field, Buxton tried running to second base after Nick Gordon hit a groundball towards second. While trying to advance, Buxton inadvertently collided with Chicago shortstop Lenyn Sosa. Buxton flipped over and fell headfirst into the ground and stayed down for several moments.
Thankfully, Buxton appeared to have avoided a serious injury. Dan Haynes of The Athletic reported that Buxton managed to walk it off without any assistance.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Minnesota manager Rocco Baldelli stated that there isn’t a diagnosis on the star centerfielder. Baldelli added that Buxton will get “evaluated”.
