The major story in baseball this week has to do with a player actually doing a despicable thing by….hitting a baseball out of a stadium for a grand slam. You would think he gets paid to do that or something.
San Diego Padres star Fernando Tatis Jr. has been blasted by folks for hitting a grand slam with the Padres up seven runs over the Texas Rangers in the top of the eighth inning on Monday. Rangers manager Chris Woodward took offense to him not taking a pitch in that scenario.
Cincinnati Reds pitcher Trevor Bauer had the best response ever to the backlash, not only defending Tatis Jr. but telling him to never apologize.
Baseball’s “unwritten rules” is something that should’ve ended years ago. You don’t like batters hitting massive home runs in late innings while up big in the score, then throw better pitches.
