Most MLB brawls are crowded shoving matches but one that erupted on Saturday between the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians started with a boxing match.
Guardians star José Ramírez slid into second base between the legs of White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson. Ramírez was called safe, but he was unhappy with Anderson. A dispute broke out that resulted in Ramírez and Anderson pushing their way to each other as umpire Malachi Moore tried to separate them.
Both players threw punches, with Ramírez appearing to land the knockout blow when Anderson fell backward. Both teams quickly cleared out their dugouts and bullpens as the two players were separated.
A tweet that Anderson sent out in 2019 was dug up in the aftermath that he is being roasted for now.
“Never let them knock you off your pivot,” Anderson tweeted four years ago.

Baseball fans and even casual fans got to witness Ramírez hit Anderson with the hardest punch MLB has seen since Rougned Odor leveled José Bautista in 2016.
Ramírez and Anderson were both ejected from the game, as were Francona, Grifol, and Guardians third base coach Mike Sarbaugh.
Ramírez might have won the fight, but the White Sox won the night with a 7-4 victory over the Guardians.
Missing Ramirez for several games will hurt the Guardians since they actually have a shot at making the postseason.
