Alex Bregman has yet to find a home, and his free agency is expected to head into 2025. Several top players remain as free agents, while some have already signed with teams. Gleyber Torres is the latest MLB signing, as the Detroit Tigers have agreed to a one-year deal.
The Tigers were one of the top landing spots for Bregman, but they have progressed with Torres. Bregman was indeed a better option, but Detroit’s budget might have been a little over the top.
Signing Torres will certainly boost the team’s offense. However, Tigers fans are disappointed as the team opted for Torres over Alex Bregman. Fans immediately took to social media to react to the team’s latest deal with the former Yankees star.

Detroit Tigers Unlikely To Pursue Alex Bregman
The Tigers are unlikely to sign the Astros star after signing Torres. Bregman has a huge demand, but he’s waiting for the right contract to come his way. The two-time World Series champion is looking at a contract close to $200 million.
The Astros are unable to give Bregman $200 million, and the chances of him signing with the Tigers have declined. The Tigers agreed to a one-year $15 million deal with Torres. Detroit had not attempted to secure a deal lasting more than a year, and many speculate it’s because of their financial situation.
Going all in for Alex Bregman now seems like a faraway dream. It’s only natural for Tigers fans to be upset since they were expecting Bregman and not Torres. On the other hand, Pete Alonso and the Mets are predicted to sign a short-term deal.
