The Los Angeles Dodgers are packed with a formidable bullpen while entering the 2025 season. They have a full-proof roster after the offseason acquisitions of left-hander Tanner Scott and right-hander Kirby Yates.
While the Dodgers manager, Dave Roberts, is busy picking a closer from an exceptionally deep bullpen, there’s more to add. LA now has a 40-man roster, and they have to make the most sense out of the pool. Things could go away South as some of them could be handed a 60-day injured list in the coming week.
Although, there’s time in the final call. Here’s the list of three Dodgers pitchers who will likely not pitch until the All-Star Break:
Brusdar Graterol
The Dodgers reliever Brusdar Graterol is set to miss at least the first half of the 2025 season. The unfortunate news came after undergoing right labrum surgery. He was sidelined after a frustrating 2024 season during which Graterol dealt with persistent shoulder and hamstring injuries. His struggles limited him to just seven regular-season appearances.

Though he was able to contribute during the World Series, making three appearances in the Dodgers’ championship run against the New York Yankees. The team now faces the challenge of adapting their bullpen in his absence.
The Dodgers significantly feel Graterol’s absence because he has played a crucial role in their late-inning relief strategy since joining the team. With a career ERA of 2.78 across nearly 191 big-league games, he has proven himself to perform under pressure, especially during the postseason.

River Ryan
River Ryan has faced a significant setback in his young career with the announcement that he will undergo Tommy John surgery. Initially called up in July 2024, Ryan made an impressive debut. He secured a 1-0 record and posted an outstanding 1.33 ERA across four starts.

The promising right-hander for the Dodgers showed his potential, striking out 18 batters over 20 1/3 innings. Unfortunately, during a start against the Pirates, Ryan experienced tightness in his forearm, leading to a series of medical evaluations that confirmed the need for surgery. The recovery timeline for Tommy John surgery typically spans 12 to 18 months, effectively sidelining Ryan for the entirety of the 2025 season.
Gavin Stone
Gavin Stone joins the list of missing outs. He will miss the entire 2025 season after undergoing right shoulder surgery on October 9, 2024. At just 25 years old, Stone had begun to establish himself as a vital member of the Dodgers’ rotation. Following a successful rookie campaign in 2024, where he posted an impressive 11-5 record with a 3.53 ERA over 25 starts, Stone will miss the entire 2025 season.

He led the team in innings pitched with 140.1 and struck out 116 batters while maintaining a solid 1.21 WHIP. These stats made him one of the primary workhorses on the staff throughout the season. Stone’s rise in the Dodgers’ rotation came at a time when the team was grappling with multiple pitching injuries. He filled a crucial role by stepping in to start every game assigned to him until an injury list placement due to shoulder inflammation in September.
