The early reports of David Ortiz being shot in the Dominican Republic stated he was a victim of a possible robbery. Footage of the shooting easily dismissed it as less of a robbery and more of as an assassination attempt.
According to Latin American sports journalist Hector Gomez, the guy who was responsible for firing off the shots at the former Boston slugger claims he “didn’t know” he was ordered to shoot the legend, as he was only given information on what the person was wearing.
It doesn’t matter if he knew who it was or not, he’ll still catch a attempted murder charge as well as other charges for his part in this crime. Judging by the way locals dealt with the motorcycle rider who dropped the shooter off after the shooting, the actual shooter is likely to get his fair share of pain while behind bars.
The Boston Red Sox released a statement on behalf of the 43-year-old’s wife Tiffany.
