Toronto Blue Jays All-Star shortstop Bo Bichette is a strong candidate to get moved out before Tuesday’s trade deadline, and there shouldn’t be a shortage of teams interested in the 26-year-old.
The Blue Jays (48-56) have been the most disappointing team in baseball this year. With Bo Bichette and fellow All-Star Vladimir Guerrero Jr. only under contract through 2025, many wonder if Toronto will begin a full-scale rebuild by moving out one or both players.
Toronto entered Sunday 8.5 games behind the Kansas City Royals for the AL’s final playoff spot, and they’ve already begun selling by moving out catcher Danny Jansen and pitchers Yimi García and Nate Pearson.
Since Guerrero Jr. is having a superb bounce-back season, the struggling Bichette is a more likely candidate to be traded
The Arizona Diamondbacks, who aren’t strangers to blockbuster deals with the Blue Jays, are an ideal landing spot for Bo Bichette. GM Mike Hazen has a good mix of quality prospects and roster players that he could offer up for the two-time All-Star.

The reigning National League champions enter Sunday half a game behind the New York Mets for the final wild card spot.
Only the New York Yankees (531) have scored more runs than the Diamondbacks (522), but adding a player like Bo Bichette in a league with pitching juggernauts like the Los Angeles Dodgers, Philadelphia Phillies, Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers could be the difference-maker in Arizona’s quest to return to the Fall Classic.
What Diamondbacks Should Offer For Bo Bichette
If the Blue Jays want at least one player who can help them compete in 2024, they should ask Arizona for infielder Kevin Newman in return. The offense-starved Jays, who’s batting .271 this year, could be a useful piece in Toronto’s offense behind Vladdy Jr., George Springer and Daulton Varsho next year.
On top of Newman, Arizona should offer outfielder prospect Druw Jones (their No. 3 ranked prospect at MLB.com) and pitching prospect Yilber Diaz (ranked 15th by MLB.com) for Bo Bichette.
This would be a fair return for a young superstar like Bichette, who’s one of the best pure hitters in baseball when he’s on his game. The Jays would get a quality starter in Newman (a pending free agent who they can extend) and two prospects for a player that they’re unlikely to keep beyond 2025 anyway.
