Many on social media think the infamous “Drake curse” struck the World Series after a photo of the famous rapper wearing a Shohei Ohtani jersey resurfaced.
Of course, Ohtani is likely not only one of the most popular athletes around but certainly the most recognizable globally for Major League Baseball.
The photo was originally posted when it was rumored that Shohei would be signing with the Toronto Blue Jays, Drake’s favorite team, but now social media thinks the curse will still stand.

“Why this dude just can’t mind his own damn business and stay in Toronto or Houston or wherever tf? Boy needs to stay tf away,” said one comment.

“I love every part of it. Hopefully Shoverrated goes 0 for 30 and Drake cries,” said another.
“Why can’t he stick to his roots of NY,ATL,N.O., HOUSTON or Canada,” joked a third.
Of course, with how high-powered the Dodgers lineup is, this is a serious chance that the “Drake curse” will be outright proven wrong.
If not, it just adds to the crazy amount of times Drake has chosen the wrong side of a matchup.
The “Drake Curse” Has An Insane History
This curse hasn’t just been a once or twice occurrence. No matter how favored the side Drake cheers for, they lose.
Some of the most infamous instances are the Alabama Crimson Tide’s loss to the Clemson Tigers in the 2019 National Championship after he had gone public to support Alabama.
He also bet over $1 million on the Dallas Mavericks and Edmonton Oilers to win the championship in their respective leagues. Of course, each team would lose.
If you truly buy into the “Drake curse,” it suggests that the New York Yankees, who had the third-best regular season record, would be a safe bet to win the 2024 World Series.
