New York Yankees’ pitcher Nestor Cortés pitched a gem in the team’s 5-3 victory over the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday afternoon, but it wasn’t just his stat line that had social media talking.
Cortés also had fans laughing with a rather unique delivery on one of his pitches. In the clip below, you can see Cortés taking his time in throwing a pitch with his creative windup and leg kick. Impressively so, he just barely missed the strike zone on a borderline pitch:

Cortés moved to 2-0 on the year with another strong outing. He pitched 5.1 innings and allowed only four hits and two earned runs. Cortés struck out five batters, and a pair of homers from Aaron Judge lifted New York to a 5-3 win.
The victory improved the Yankees’ record to 6-3. The Pinstripes have gone 2-1 in each of their opening three series’ of 2023, also taking two of three from the San Francisco Giants and defending NL Champion Philadelphia Phillies.
With Cortés, Gerrit Cole and Carlos Rodón rounding out the rotation, the Yankees are certainly built for another deep October run. New York will try to maintain the early-season momentum when they visit the Cleveland Guardians on Monday.
