The Major League Baseball season is in full effect as all teams are in action during this grueling 162-game season. One of those teams is the New York Mets, but they are already starting the year off on the wrong foot and we aren’t even speaking about the outcome of their games.
Arguably no team improved its roster more than the New York Mets, but not only has the team made changes, but the stadium itself has undergone several upgrades aimed at making the fan experience more enjoyable.
Before the season began, the New York Mets held a 2024 edition of ‘What’s New at Citi,’ an annual event where the Mets get to show off some of their additions and improvements for the new season at Citi Field.
During the home openers this week, fans got their first taste of what food they are going to be eating, but most notably, how much things are going to cost them after paying for a ticket to get in the game after paying a ton just to park.
Walking around the stadium, one New York Mets found a sandwich at Pat LaFrieda called the ‘Surf and Turf Sandwich. There was no picture associated with it but it did have an outrageous price of $40.55.
You read that correctly. The Pat Lafrieda original filet mignon steak sandwich is topped with a lobster shack salad on a toasted French baguette. The entire sandwich was 1500 calories.

The New York Mets Have Had A Disastrous Start To The 2024 MLB Season After Bad 2023 Campaign
The New York Mets desperately wanted to show their fan base that they were different in 2024 after the team didn’t see much return on their investment in 2023, finishing 75-87 and in fourth place in the NL East, via Wikipedia.com. It marked the sixth time in seven seasons that the Mets failed to qualify for the playoffs. It also came in a season when the payroll exceeded $374 million.
So far, the team is 0-2 on the 2024 season, with both losses already coming at home against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Do the New York Mets need to give their fans a break and lower concession prices? We’d love to hear what you think in the comments.
