Shohei Ohtani got the No. 17 Dodgers jersey from Joe Kelly for free, so he gifted his wife a brand-new car in a shocking gesture.
Ashley Kelly probably played a part in getting Ohtani to sign for the Dodgers, having undertaken an #Ohtale17 campaign. And she was rewarded for her efforts, with the incoming star handing her the keys to a Porsche.
She posted a video of herself opening her front door to see the car in the driveway.
“It’s yours, from Shohei,” a man is heard saying. “He wanted to gift you a Porsche.”
The No. 17 was always going to Shohei once he signed his deal, and Ashley had some fun with it, posting an IG clip in which she’s seen throwing No. 17 Kelly apparel in her yard.

“I wasn’t going to give it up to just anybody,” Joe told reporters. “If Shohei keeps performing, he’ll be a future Hall of Famer and I’ll be able to have my number retired. That’s the closest I’ll get to the Hall of Fame.”
Asked what he wanted in return, he said: “Oh there’s a list, but no comment.”
Doesn’t seem like the Porsche was on there, though.
