Rule number 1, if you talk about someone’s mom, fully expect to get into a fight.
Apparently, that was the spark that set off the fiery benches-clearing brawl between the A’s and Houston Astros on Sunday at the Coliseum.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, A’s center fielder Ramon Laureano was hit by a pitch from Astros reliever Humberto Castellanos and things got crazy as cameras caught him jawing with a coach in the dugout.
When Laureano reached first base, he could be seen screaming at Houston hitting coach Alex Cintron.
According to former Astros beat writer Jose de Jesus Ortiz, it appears his mother was brought up just before he went charging over there.

Astros manager Dusty Baker was asked after the game if Cintron made a remark to Laureano about his mother, and Baker said he wasn’t sure.
With no fans on the field and mics everywhere, it shouldn’t be hard to find the audio of that moment.
