The Philadelphia Phillies were looking to close out their series with the Atlanta Braves at home today, and Braves outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. didn’t appear to be doing much to prevent them from making it happen.
The Phils’ took care of the Braves easily, beating them 9-3 in Game 4 to take the series, 3-1.
One of the key moments from Philadelphia’s victory came in the bottom of the third inning, when catcher J.T. Realmuto turned a deep shot off the center-field wall into an inside-the-park home run.
Upon further review, many couldn’t help but noticed the lack of effort given by Acuna in right field as the play unfolded right in front of him.

It didn’t take long for social media to begin blasting Acuna for his lack of effort.
The Braves had just closed the Phillies lead to 3-1 in the top half of the inning. Giving that run right back in the bottom of the third only served to shift the momentum back in Philadelphia’s favor.

The Phillies will now take on the winner of the Los Angeles Dodgers-San Diego Padres series in the National League Championship Series.
As for Acuna, he’ll have plenty of time to explain his actions (or lack thereof) during what should be a long offseason for the young slugger.
