Braves star outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. was involved in an unusual and potentially dangerous situation Monday night.
Two fans ran onto the Coors Field outfield and grabbed Atlanta Braves outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr. during the seventh inning. The first fan hugged Acuña before being brought down by security. As that happened, yet another fan found their way onto the field and to Acuña.
Acuña appeared to come away from the incident without injury and remained in the game, but it could’ve been so much worse if the security was a little better in doing their job.
Another angle from the infield stands shows the second fan sprinting from the right field to join in.
Both fans were eventually detained by Coors Field security. The Rockies crowd serenaded Acuña with chants of “MVP.”

Aside from that incident, Acuna hit his 29th home run and recorded his NL-best 60th and 61st stolen bases as the Braves recorded a 14-4 win. He finished the night 4 for 5 at the plate with a home run, two stolen bases, a walk, three runs scored, and five RBI.
He spoke with reporters about the incident after the game.
“I was a little scared at first, but I think the fans were out there and asking for a picture,” Acuña said via an interpreter. “But security was able to get there, and so I think everything’s OK. Everyone’s OK.”
The Braves entered Monday with a majors-leading 84-45 record on the season. The Rockies, meanwhile, had the third-worst record in Major League Baseball at 49-81.
