An MLB announcer has been taken off the air following some disturbing allegations.
Craig Monroe, an analyst for the Detroit Tigers, was removed from radio and television last month on the back of a social media post in which he was accused of molesting a girl in Florida.
A source in the know told The Detroit News as much, claiming the abuse dates back to Monroe’s playing days and happened for years.
Monroe played for nine years before retiring in 2009. He hasn’t called a game for the Tigers since June 9 or posted on social media since May 8.
His accuser initially posted about the allegations on X/Twitter in June, tagging multiple news outlets before deleting the tweet. But Bally Sports Detroit had already seen it before it was deleted.
The MLB announcer was preparing for the series opener between the Tigers and Washington Nationals on June 11 at Comerica Park when Bally saw the post. According to the source, an exec asked him to leave the ballpark around 30 minutes after seeing it.

Bally Sports & The Tigers Have Issued A Statement On MLB Announcer Craig Monroe
Bally Sports Detroit and the Tigers issued a joint statement on Tuesday.
“Bally Sports Detroit and the Tigers are aware of the social-media allegations and take them seriously,” they told The Detroit News. “As previously stated, Mr. Monroe has not been on the broadcast schedule, and that will continue on an indefinite basis. We will have no further comment and any questions should be directed to Mr. Monroe.”
The entities made their first mention of Monroe’s absence to local media outlets on June 21, claiming the former outfielder was “addressing a personal matter.”
