Crazy scene at a Minor League Baseball game between the Portland Sea Dogs and Binghamton Rumble Ponies. In the bottom of the third inning, with the bases loaded, Sea Dogs first baseman Tyreque Reed was beaned on the arm by Rumble Ponies pitcher Marcel Renteria.
As Reed was making his way to first base, some words were exchanged and that’s when things got out of control. Reed charged at Renteria, uncorking a right-handed haymaker that landed cleanly, sending the pitcher tumbling to the ground. The benches would clear, but peace would be restored soon after.
After the dust settled, Renteria could be seen on the ground writhing in pain and getting some much needed attention from the medical staff. Reed was ejected from the game and Renteria left the game also as he was in no shape to continue.
There is sure to be some suspensions dished out as a result of this altercation.
