The Boston Red Sox are one of those teams that have been linked with several players off-late. It all started out with Juan Soto, but the team has taken a new twist by adding Aroldis Chapman to their pitching squad. Boston is keen on making the playoffs this next season, and Chapman can be a decent fit.
Soto seems to be out of the way for now, as many believe that the team will not be able to afford him. The Red Sox and Chapman agreed to a one-year $10.5 million deal. MLB insider Jeff Passan was one of the first to report the news on X.
While the Red Sox are trying to bolster their pitching arms, many fans were unimpressed with the reports of signing Chapman. Some fans believe that Chapman will not be a right fit in Boston.
Left-handed reliever Aroldis Chapman and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a one-year, $10.75 million contract, pending physical, sources tell ESPN. Boston sought left-handed help for its bullpen and lands the 36-year-old Chapman. @ChrisCotillo said deal was progressing.

Aroldis Chapman Breaks News On Social Media By Wearing A Boston Red Sox Cap
Chapman shared an image on X while he was sitting in the gym with his dog. The 36-year-old wore a Boston Red Sox cap and captioned the post, “Let’s Go.” The physical agreement is still pending, but the four-time All-Star has found himself a home.
Chapman is one of the hardest-throwing pitchers in the league. His ability to throw fastballs can stun some of the top hitters every day. Chapman finished his 2024 season with a 5-5 record and a 3.79 ERA. The southpaw struck out 98 opponent hitters for the Pittsburgh Pirates.
The Red Sox can make good use of a left-handed pitcher. Adding Chapman will give them a boost to the bullpen. A handful of free agents have signed with teams already, but the biggest player in the market is still a free agent, Juan Soto.
