It’s finally June, and in the MLB, that means trade speculations and playoff implications are beginning for each team. So here are the power rankings after Week 9.
Which teams continued to surge in this week’s MLB rankings?
30. Chicago White Sox (Last Week's Rank: 30)
The Chicago White Sox are on pace to have one of the worst seasons in MLB history. The best way to describe this team is a dumpster fire. It’s time to start the rebuild in Chicago.
29. Colorado Rockies (Last Week's Rank: 28)
The Rockies had a good week and have won two of their last three series, but their pitching staff is atrocious. It’s time for them to make trades and add prospects to their organization.
28. Miami Marlins (Last Week's Rank: 29)
The Miami Marlins are just like the Rockies, dead in the water. This season, the Rockies have failed to capitalize on their momentum from last year and need to be active toward the trade deadline.

27. Los Angeles Angels (Last Week's Rank: 26)
You have to feel bad for the Angels. They lost their MVP, Shohei Ohtani, in the offseason and then lost another former MVP, Mike Trout, during the season. They’re just slowly getting worse.
26. New York Mets (Last Week's Rank: 25)
The Mets are the Mets, a joke that gets funnier and funnier. This week’s joke? You can count the number of Mets series wins this month on one finger.
25. Oakland Athletics (Last Week's Rank: 27)
Oakland started the season hot and has since cooled off. But now they’re almost ice-cold and continue to lose series after series.

24. Cincinnati Reds (Last Week's Rank: 21)
The Reds sit at the bottom of the NL Central, ten games back from first place. This is a talented team that has one huge weakness. Their batting average as a team is 29th in the league, hurting their chances of turning things around.
23. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last Week's Rank: 24)
The Pirates’ pitching staff is consistent, while their offense is non-existent. If this MLB team wants to regain contention for the NL Central, its stars must shine.
22. Houston Astros (Last Week's Rank: 23)
Sometimes, the Astros look like they are about to turn their season around; other times, they look like they need to give up on the season. But they are still one win streak away from returning to the playoffs.
21. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last Week's Rank: 20)
The Diamondbacks are five games under .500, but they must find consistency to compete in the NL West. They will break their cold slump soon and get back in their groove.
20. Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week's Rank: 20)
The Toronto Blue Jays are focused on the future but might be wasting time. This week was their best overall this season. They went 5-1, but they now face the Orioles and desperately need a series win.
19. San Francisco Giants (Last Week's Rank: 15)
This week was tough for the Giants as they faced off against the Phillies and Yankees. They’re on a four-game losing streak, but they also spent the last two weeks picking up ten wins in 10 wins in 12 games.
18. Tampa Bay Rays (Last Week's Rank: 13)
The Tampa Bay Rays had a decent week, going 3-3. This is another team that’s only one hot streak away from being at the top of the standings, but they also tend to let losing streaks happen.
17. Washington Nationals (Last Week's Rank: 18)
Even though the Washington Nationals are below .500, they play good baseball this season. Last week, they were 3-3, but they won their series against the Braves, which is good for them.
16. Detroit Tigers (Last Week's Rank: 16)
Yup, you guessed it, the Tigers went 3-3 this weekend. Another team in the middle of the pack trying to find their groove. One huge positive for the Tigers has been the bottom of their lineup stepping up when it counts.
15. Chicago Cubs (Last Week's Rank: 8)
May was not a good month for the Chicago Cubs. In just a few weeks, they went from being a top team in the MLB to two games under .500.
14. St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week's Rank: 19)
With so many teams fighting to turn their season around, the St.Louis Cardinals have done it. They’ve gone from struggling to contending because of consecutive series wins in May. Since May 12, the Cardinals have gone 12-5, with their only series loss coming against the Phillies.
13. Boston Red Sox (Last Week's Rank: 13)
Boston is the opposite of other teams, around .500 right now. They started hot thanks to their pitching staff playing lights out, and since that slowed down, they have, too.
12. Texas Rangers (Last Week's Rank: 14)
The Rangers are one game under .500 and in second place in the AL West. They’re lucky the division is weak this season because they’ve failed to look like a championship team.
11. Minnesota Twins (Last Week's Rank: 12)
The Minnesota Twins went 3-3 this week and are currently 33-26. If they held this record, they’d be in first place in the season, but currently, they’re third in the AL Central.
10. Seattle Mariners (Last Week's Rank: 9)
Seattle continues only to win if Julio Rodriguez plays well. Luckily, this week, he was hot again. The Mariners are 7-1 in their last eight games.
9. San Diego Padres (Last Week's Rank: 11)
The San Diego Padres went 5-2 this week and continue to improve their record slowly. They likely won’t catch the Dodgers in the NL West race, but they can enhance their wild-card chances.
8. Atlanta Braves (Last Week's Rank: 6)
Things are tough in Atlanta without Ronald Acuna Jr. This team needs to find their groove again before they find out how the Angels are feeling without their MLB star.
7. Kansas City Royals (Last Week's Rank: 5)
The Kansas City Royals had a terrible week, and the worst part is that it came against top competition in the Twins and the Padres. The Royals must determine if they’re a top contender or another middle-of-the-pack team.
6. Milwaukee Brewers (Last Week's Rank: 10)
The Brewers are currently on a five-game win streak and continue to pick up wins. This team knows how to avoid long-losing streaks, keeping them high in the win column during a long season.
5. Cleveland Guardians (Last Week's Rank: 7)
If you’re questioning how good the Guardians are, they continue to show you with their play. Cleveland is currently 39-20, and their offense is on fire. They currently rank fourth in runs and eighth in OBP.
4. Baltimore Orioles (Last Week's Rank: 3)
The Orioles are 8-2 over their last ten games. Baltimore doesn’t play with its food. They won seven of their ten series this month, split two, and only lost one.
3. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week's Rank: 4)
Like the Yankees, the Dodgers have two MVP candidates, and it’s paying off for them in the long run. They’re also getting the most out of their spending in the summer, as their two biggest pickups are Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
2. New York Yankees (Last Week's Rank: 2)
The New York Yankees’ spending has paid off for the first season in a long time. They now hold the best record in baseball and are winning impressively. You have to wonder how long they can keep this momentum.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (Last Week's Rank: 1)
The Philadelphia Phillies are the best team in baseball for another week. This week, they went 3-3, but they continue to impress offensively and defensively.
