Major League Baseball is a grind for fans; every season has ups and downs. But those moments define the year; so far, some teams live up to the hype, while others live in the cellar. So here’s where each MLB team ranks after Week 7.
Which MLB teams moved up, and which ones moved down in week 7?
30. Chicago White Sox (Last Week's Rank: 29)
The White Sox found their rhythm, picking up wins last week, but returned to losing this week. Even though they picked up two wins over the Nationals, I’m not convinced they aren’t the worst team in the league.
29. Colorado Rockies (Last Week's Rank: 30)
The Rockies were on an impressive seven-game win streak before losing three straight to the Giants. This week will determine whether they can rejuvenate their season or begin to throw in the towel.
28. Los Angeles Angels (Last Week's Rank: 28)
Without Mike Trout, the Angels’ season continues to unravel. A team that was once .500 through 20 games is now 11 games under and fighting to rejuvenate its season.

27. Oakland Athletics (Last Week's Rank: 21)
Oakland is another team that started the season showing promise and has since come back down to earth. The A’s are currently on an eight-game losing streak and are lucky to play one of the worst teams in the league, the Rockies, during their next series.
26. Miami Marlins (Last Week's Rank: 27)
Miami had a great week, winning their series against the Tigers and the Mets. But the biggest difference was their pitching staff’s three shutouts in a row. If that output can be reproduced, the Marlins could see a lot more wins in the near future.
25. Cincinnati Reds (Last Week's Rank: 24)
It was a tough week for the Reds, who had a series against the Dodgers and Diamondbacks. This team has been losing for the last three weeks, and its record is plummeting faster than its playoff chances.

24. St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week's Rank: 26)
The Cardinals are 5-2 in their last seven games and finally showing life. They started the season looking old and slow and like they needed to rebuild. But they got back on track this week and need to continue their success to climb the rankings.
23. Houston Astros (Last Week's Rank: 25)
The Astros are picking up steam, going 9-2 in their last 11 games. Houston, like St.Louis, started the season looking old and slow, but Houston now looks like the same championship-caliber MLB team again.
22. Washington Nationals (Last Week's Rank: 15)
In a week of comparisons, you can group the Nationals and the Athletics together as well. The Nationals were two games above .500 two weeks ago and are now five games below. The benefit for the Nationals is they have some young prospects waiting to be called up in Dylan Crews and James Woods once things get really bad.
21. Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week's Rank: 20)
The Blue Jays hit the ball well and have a solid pitching staff, but somehow can’t score runs. This team is ranked 29th in runs this season, and if they can fix their weakness, it could fix their season.
20. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last Week's Rank: 23)
A few weeks ago, I said the Pirates needed to call up Paul Skenes. Now that they have, their pitching staff is finally catching up to their offense. Pittsburgh picked up a huge series win over the Cubs last week and now needs to keep the momentum going.
19. New York Mets (Last Week's Rank: 18)
The Mets roster has so much talent, but they never play well together. If they keep flopping below .500 this season, I expect the Mets to let go of some of their top guys around the trade deadline.
18. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last Week's Rank: 19)
The Diamondbacks went 3-3 this week and continue to fight for second place in the NL West with the Giants and Padres. Their offense is outstanding, and I see them competing for a playoff spot when their pitching staff gets healthy.
17. San Francisco Giants (Last Week's Rank: 22)
The Giants handled business this week, sweeping the Rockies after a tough series with the Dodgers. San Francisco continues to find ways to win challenging games, which will pay off for them later in the season.
16. Detroit Tigers (Last Week's Rank: 16)
The Tigers pitchers are likely begging their offense to show some life. Early in the season, the Tigers won a lot of low-scoring close games, but now they’re losing those same matchups. In seven of their last nine losses, they’ve scored three runs or less.
15. Boston Red Sox (Last Week's Rank: 14)
The Red Sox and Tigers are having the same problem: great pitching and lackluster hitting. I don’t see the potential in the Red Sox, but you can’t count out any MLB team with a pitching staff that’s second in ERA.
14. Texas Rangers (Last Week's Rank: 13)
The Texas Rangers don’t look like the defending World Series Champions right now, but they’re still waiting for the return of two of the best pitchers in baseball. Things are better than they seem in Texas.
13. Tampa Bay Rays (Last Week's Rank: 17)
The Tampa Bay Rays started the season slowly but have completely turned it around. They were once six games below .500 and are now two games above. Their division is tough, but they seem built for the challenge.
12. Minnesota Twins (Last Week's Rank: 8)
Once you start believing in the Twins, they show you why you shouldn’t. They lost every game they played this week and scored only nine runs in six games. They are selling fools’ gold in Minnesota this season.
11. Seattle Mariners (Last Week's Rank: 12)
The Mariners are currently leading their division but continue to struggle against the top teams in the league. They have the potential to be a top-five MLB team, but they have to beat the best of the best to be recognized as one.
10. San Diego Padres (Last Week's Rank: 7)
The San Diego Padres are loving their new addition in Luis Arraez. Even though they lost their series against the Rockies, they turned around and won their series against the Braves. You don’t want to mess with San Diego right now.
9. Kansas City Royals (Last Week's Rank: 9)
The Royals are impressive. They haven’t allowed a long losing streak this season. They also continue to win in any way necessary. The Royals will be in the playoff hunt in August.
8. Chicago Cubs (Last Week's Rank: 6)
The Cubs had a tough week but are also in a tough part of their schedule. After their next series with the Braves, they have a few series against some of the league’s worst coming up.
7. Milwaukee Brewers (Last Week's Rank: 11)
Thanks to their top-five offense, the Brewers lead a tough NL Central division. They certainly have a strong argument for being the best MLB team in the National League.
6. Cleveland Guardians (Last Week's Rank: 10)
It’s time to start accepting how well the Cleveland Guardians are playing. Although it certainly felt like a fluke earlier in the year, they continue to put together win streaks.
5. New York Yankees (Last Week's Rank: 5)
The New York Yankees are currently on a seven-game win streak. Their opponents haven’t been adamant during this time, but they are handling business.
4. Atlanta Braves (Last Week's Rank: 3)
The Atlanta Braves had a tough week at home. They struggled to hit the ball, but every good team struggles at some point in the year. They will snap out of it soon.
3. Baltimore Orioles (Last Week's Rank: 2)
The Orioles continue to impress the baseball world. This week, they won in every way, including blowouts, comebacks, and an Adley Rutchman Walk-off.
2. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week's Rank: 4)
The Dodgers took a few weeks to find their rhythm, but this MLB team has looked unstoppable the last few weeks. With Mookie and Ohtani playing like MVPs, this team is a force to be reckoned with.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (Last Week's Rank: 1)
The Phillies continue to dominate, and we must ask if they have the best offense in baseball. Their lineup gets hits from every spot in the order every day, and they are only at full strength some days.
