With the final week of the season here, playoff seeding is up for grabs with every win or loss. The top MLB teams are securing their seed, and others are fighting to play next week. Here is this week’s Power Rankings after Week 25.
Who are the top teams in the MLB power rankings heading into the final week of the season?
30. Chicago White Sox (Last Week's Rank: 30)
The White Sox organization, the city, and MLB fans as a whole are excited not to have to watch this team play anymore. Just six more games left until they’re out of their misery.
29. Miami Marlins (Last Week's Rank: 29)
The Marlins struggled both offensively and defensively this season no matter who played. Even in the beginning, with multiple former All-Stars on their roster, they were one of the worst teams in the MLB. But now, their rebuild can begin this offseason.
28. Colorado Rockies (Last Week's Rank: 27)
The Rockies are set to finish last in the NL West after a disappointing season. One benefit to their season is that they have a lot of key pieces in place to help them win next season and in the future.

27. Los Angeles Angels (Last Week's Rank: 28)
Another season for the Angels lost due to a Mike Trout injury. In the last three weeks the A’s have gone 4-11.
26. Oakland Athletics (Last Week’s Rank 25)
The Oakland Athletics have gone 3-7 in their last ten games. The A’s didn’t have high hopes for the season, and their performance showed that.
25. Washington Nationals (Last Week's Rank: 23)
The Nationals were in a rebuilding season this year that will pay off in the future. They had multiple top prospects in the system that were called up. Now, it’s time to place veterans around them in the winter.
24. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last Week's Rank: 26)
The Pittsburgh Pirates are set for the future behind their young and talented pitching staff. While this season didn’t go as planned, they can now focus on rebuilding their offense in the offseason.
23. Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week's Rank: 22)
The Blue Jays season didn’t end well, but they still have their core intact for next season. As long as you have Vladamir Gurrero, you will be able to win games.
22. Cincinnati Reds (Last Week's Rank: 20)
Cincinnati was on a tear to start the season and just never had enough to keep it going. Elley De La Cruz had a phenomenal year, though, hitting 25 home runs and stealing 60 bases.
21. Texas Rangers (Last Week's Rank: 24)
The Rangers may have had the worst season amongst teams after winning a World Series in MLB history. By July, they had no hopes for the playoffs with how bad they were playing.
20. San Francisco Giants (Last Week's Rank: 21)
The Giants were stuck in the mud all season. Struggling to win in the NL West, struggling to get over .500, and struggling to be consistent. But they found some stars in their lineups in Heliot Ramos and veteran Matt Chapman.
19. St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week's Rank: 18)
The Cardinals didn’t have a bad season but never really moved past .500. Most of the season was up and down. Winning one week and losing the next. It’s been a long summer for Cardinals fans.
18. Chicago Cubs (Last Week's Rank: 16)
The Cubs offense was on a tear last week, fighting extremely hard to win. However, their early season struggles were too much to overcome, as they were eliminated from the playoffs last week.
17. Tampa Bay Rays (Last Week's Rank: 19)
The Rays are currently on a four-game winning streak and have played really well since the trade deadline. Tampa Bay battled all season in one of the toughest divisions in the league.
16. Boston Red Sox (Last Week's Rank: 17)
The Boston Red Sox are officially eliminated from the playoffs. Not only have they struggled when it matters, but they’re offense didn’t play well enough this season compared to other MLB teams.
15. Atlanta Braves (Last Week's Rank: 13)
It’s easy to talk down on the Astros’ recent struggles, but you also must acknowledge why they’ve happened. They lost multiple key hitters to injury but continued to battle. They’re just two games back in the wild-card race.
14. Seattle Mariners (Last Week's Rank: 15)
While the Mariners are playing better, it might be too little, too late. They currently trail in the wild card race by two games.
13. Kansas City Royals (Last Week's Rank: 9)
Kansas City is finding every way possible to miss the playoffs. They’ve lost 16 of their last 23 games and continue to struggle to break losing streaks. Their cold stretch has included two seven-game losing streaks.
12. Minnesota Twins (Last Week's Rank: 12)
The Twins are 6-13 in their last 19 games. While they’re cold stretch isn’t as bad as the Royals. It may end in a similar fate of missing the playoffs if they don’t finish on a high note this week.
11. Detroit Tigers (Last Week's Rank: 14)
After going 11-3 in their last 14 games, the Tigers now control their own destiny to make the playoffs. They hold a one-game lead over Minnesota and, luckily, finish the season against the Rays and White Sox.
10. Houston Astros (Last Week's Rank: 10)
With one win over the Mariners in their next series, the Astros can clinch the AL West. Houston is another MLB team that started slow but made key trades and offensive adjustments to turn their series around.
9. Baltimore Orioles (Last Week's Rank: 8)
Baltimore needs to sweep the Yankees and hope New York loses a few more games in the series after to win the AL East. The Orioles’ struggles in the last few weeks have put a lot of distance between them and the Yankees in the division race.
8. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last Week's Rank: 7)
Competing with the Mets for the last wild card spot is the Arizona Diamondbacks, who have also had an impressive second half of the season. Last week, they picked up three huge wins over the Brewers and now find themselves with two tough series left to end the season against the Giants and Padres.
7. New York Mets (Last Week's Rank: 11)
The Mets have had a second half of the season to remember. At one point, they were almost 10 games back in the playoff race, and now they are a few wins away from clinching a wild card spot.
6. Milwaukee Brewers (Last Week's Rank: 4)
Milwaukee is in a similar situation as Cleveland. They’ve clinched their division, but they can also still win the #1 seed if other NL teams have bad weeks. The Brewers will likely end the season as the #3 seed in the NL playoffs.
5. Cleveland Guardians (Last Week's Rank: 6)
Cleveland currently has five games remaining on their schedule, and they’ve clinched the AL Central. They still have a chance to clinch the #1 seed in the AL if the Yankees collapse in their last week.
4. San Diego Padres (Last Week's Rank: 5)
The Padres were 50-50 at one point in the season and now are a few games away from winning the NL West and potentially the NL. They’re now 90-66 and have been the best team in baseball during the second half of the MLB season.
3. New York Yankees (Last Week's Rank: 3)
The New York Yankees have had a special season, and right now, they have an extremely dangerous lineup. Their pitching staff does have a few holes.
2. Philadelphia Phillies (Last Week's Rank: 1)
The Dodgers, Yankees, and Phillies have gone back and forth, competing for the top record in baseball for two weeks now. While all three teams are equally good, Philadelphia has the best chance to claim the top spot with two series remaining against the Cubs and Phillies.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week's Rank: 2)
You can write down a list of things wrong with Los Angeles. Injuries? A couple. Pitching staff? Mediocre. But do they win more than anybody else? Yes. It’s also helpful when your best player can hit three home runs in one game while going 6-6 at the plate, like Shohei Ohtani.
