Distance continues to grow between the contenders and pretenders in the MLB. Here’s this week’s MLB Power Rankings to show you which teams are playing the best baseball right now.
Which MLB teams are now battling at the top spot in this week’s Power Rankings?
30. Chicago White Sox (Last Week's Rank: 30)
It feels like I’ve found creative ways, week after week, to keep saying the White Sox are generationally bad this season. This week, I’ll say Chicago fans should enjoy laughing at this year. The White Sox are now officially eliminated from the playoffs.
29. Colorado Rockies (Last Week's Rank: 29)
A few weeks ago, the Rockies showed small signs of life, but last week was another downer. They went 2-4 and were swept by the Diamondbacks.
28. Miami Marlins (Last Week's Rank: 28)
The Marlins continue to fight despite their horrendous record. The vibes have been off all season in Miami, but last week, they at least went 3-3.

27. Los Angeles Angels (Last Week's Rank: 27)
It seems like the Angels have just been destined for the bottom five teams in the MLB all season. They’ve struggled to stay healthy and haven’t been consistent in the win column since April.
26. Washington Nationals (Last Week's Rank: 25)
The Nationals have all the potential in the world, but that’s nothing to fear right now. CJ Abrams and James Woods are playing amazingly, but you can’t say the same for everyone else.
25. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last Week's Rank: 17)
The Pirates have been spiraling for weeks, but last week likely ended their season. They fell all the way to the bottom of the NL Central after losing ten straight games.

24.. Texas Rangers (Last Week's Rank: 20)
The Texas Rangers have done everything in their power to lose this season. This team is 3-9 in their last 12 games and essentially out of the NL West division race.
23. Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week's Rank: 21)
Like other MLB teams at the bottom, the Blue Jays continue to fight. Last week, they went 4-2, swept the Angels, and scored 23 runs while doing it.
22. Oakland Athletics (Last Week's Rank: 26)
Oakland is far out of the playoff race, but you can’t tell by their play. They’ve gone 6-3 in their last nine games and won their last three series.
21. Cincinnati Reds (Last Week's Rank: 24)
The Reds continue to be a streaky team. They won their first four games last week before losing three straight. The ups and downs will soon come to haunt them as the Wild Card race tightens.
20. Chicago Cubs (Last Week's Rank: 19)
The Cubs currently sit three games below .500 on the season and on the outside looking in for the NL Wild Card Race at 5.5 GB.
19. Detroit Tigers (Last Week's Rank: 22)
The Tigers had a great week to get them back into the AL Wild Card race, but they only moved from 8th place to 6th place. The road ahead will be tough for Detroit.
18. St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week's Rank: 18)
Like the Tigers, the Cardinals sit five games back in the wild-card race. But unlike the Tigers, the Cardinals only have three MLB teams ahead of them. St.Louis might need some help from above in the standing, but they aren’t done yet.
17. San Francisco Giants (Last Week's Rank: 16)
The Giants had a really, really tough week. Their offense was non-existent, scoring only 19 runs in seven games and losing six of those seven games as well. Bad time for bad play.
16. Atlanta Braves (Last Week's Rank: 13)
It’s hard not to feel bad for Atlanta. A promising season crippled by injuries, but they still can make the playoffs if they can find enough wins.
15. Tampa Bay Rays (Last Week's Rank: 23)
Tampa Bay is slowly creeping up the standings even after the massive overhaul at the trade deadline. With a pitching staff that is this good, they’re just a hard team to stop right now.
14. Seattle Mariners (Last Week's Rank: 15)
This is a bad time to go on a losing streak, and the Mariners are finding that out firsthand. To start last week, they had a one-game lead in the AL West. After a five-game losing streak, they are four games back.
13. New York Mets (Last Week's Rank: 11)
The New York Mets have had a cold off since their mid-season run, but the playoffs are still within reach. They are two games behind Atlanta, but play them three times in the next few weeks.
12. Houston Astros (Last Week's Rank: 14)
The Houston Astros are now 10-1 in their last eleven games and have a four-game lead in the AL West. All you can say is, wow. This team was in last place in their division in May.
11. Boston Red Sox (Last Week's Rank: 4-3)
The Red Sox went 4-3 last week and won their series against the Rangers, but they lost to the Orioles.
10. Minnesota Twins (Last Week's Rank: 10)
The Twins have been one of the best MLB teams in the AL all season. Give their offense the credit, and they constantly win big games because they score a ton of runs.
9. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last Week's Rank: 12)
Arizona has fought its way into second place in the NL Wild Card race. Like the Padres, this team is on fire and will not slow down anytime soon.
8. Kansas City Royals (Last Week's Rank: 8)
The Royals are having a great year but are still fighting for the last wild-card spot. The AL is a competitive race, and they could also find themselves on the outside looking in if they go on another losing streak.
7. Milwaukee Brewers (Last Week's Rank: 9)
The Brewers are playing great baseball, going 10-3 in their last 13 games. The whole lineup is producing, and the bullpen is lights out. Things look good in Milwaukee.
6. San Diego Padres (Last Week's Rank: 6)
San Diego is undeniably the best team in baseball since the All-Star break. They’ve played so well that they have only lost six games in as many weeks.
5. New York Yankees (Last Week's Rank: 5)
The Yankees are another team with new faces that are giving them big sparks. They’ve been neck and neck with the Orioles all season, and their race will be decided in the next few weeks.
4. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week's Rank: 4)
No matter what, the Dodgers win. It might not be super flashy or impressive, but this roster keeps getting it done, going 7-3 in their last ten games.
3. Baltimore Orioles (Last Week's Rank: 3)
The Orioles found an unusual spark plug in Jackson Holiday to help snap their cold streak. But now their team has to find their rhythm again before September.
2. Cleveland Guardians (Last Week's Rank: 1)
To start the week, the Guardians were rolling. But they ended poorly, losing three in a row and falling back in the rankings. They will have to snap out of it quickly if they want to remain in the battle for the #1 seed in the AL Playoffs.
1. Philadelphia Phillies (Last Week's Rank: 2)
Last week, Philadelphia snapped their losing streak and returned to the best record in baseball. They likely won’t go that cold again for a long time.
