The last few weeks have shown potential World Series previews, playoff matchups, and division rivalries. Now, let’s see where each MLB team ranks after facing the best of the best.
Which teams continued to climb up in this week’s MLB rankings?
30. Chicago White Sox (Last Week's Rank: 30)
The White Sox are last in the MLB and five games behind the closest team. Every week is a bad week for this team.
29. Miami Marlins (Last Week's Rank: 29)
The Marlins have shown little life since they traded Luis Arraez to the Padres. As much talent as this team has, they’ve been a constant disappointment this season.
28. Colorado Rockies (Last Week's Rank: 28)
Last week, I mentioned the Rockies have not taken advantage of their home-field advantage this season.

27. Los Angeles Angels (Last Week's Rank: 26)
The Angels picked up three wins this week and a series victory. It’s hard to believe in this squad without Mike Trout, but he should return soon and give them a tiny spark.
26. Oakland Athletics (Last Week's Rank: 27)
This team is a dumpster fire rolling down an Oakland hill. They’ve lost nine games in a row and have the worst offense in the MLB.
25. Houston Astros (Last Week's Rank: 21)
The Astro’s success over the last few years leaves many to believe that this team is in a good spot. But their pitching staff is not the same, and they’re not consistent. Their best hope is that their division is struggling together, and as bad as they’ve been, they’re still in second place in the AL West.

24. Texas Rangers (Last Week's Rank: 19)
Like the Astros, this team’s recent success leaves promise in the hearts of many. Also, like the Astros, they aren’t as good as we expected. Again, like the Astros, they’re lucky their division is terrible.
23. Chicago Cubs (Last Week's Rank: 18)
Just a few weeks ago, the Chicago Cubs were ranked in the top ten on this list. But in the last month, they’ve won just eight games.
22. New York Mets (Last Week's Rank: 25)
The Mets have won five games in a row and still have an overall record in the bottom ten. Not much is expected of the Mets, but this MLB team can get hot when they play well.
21. Tampa Bay Rays (Last Week's Rank: 20)
No matter how well the Rays play, they’re trapped at the bottom of the AL East. Their division is just too good, and it will take a lot of win streaks to get into playoff contention. Luckily, Boston and Toronto are also the only things standing in their way, as the Orioles and Yankees have taken off with the division.
20. Cincinnati Reds (Last Week's Rank: 16)
After winning every game two weeks ago, the Reds went 2-4 last week. This season, they are the definition of inconsistency.
19. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last Week's Rank: 22)
Pittsburgh’s future is bright, but its present day is not. It has a phenomenal young pitching staff but struggles to win when they aren’t on the mound.
18. Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week's Rank: 13)
The Toronto Blue Jays went 3-3 last week and won their series against Cleveland. However, their offense continues to hold them back, as they struggle to score runs, ranking 26th in the league in that category.
17. Detroit Tigers (Last Week's Rank: 14)
The Tigers are beginning to regress. They’re sitting just three games back from .500, but the rest of their division is currently playing great baseball.
16. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last Week's Rank: 23)
The Diamondbacks jumped in the power rankings after a 5-2 week in which their offense showed why it is the team’s strength. The bad news for the Diamondbacks is that they might have lost OF Corbin Carroll for a few weeks.
15. San Francisco Giants (Last Week's Rank: 17)
The Giants are fighting back to .500, but their division is highly competitive. They avoid losing streaks well, which will keep them in playoff contention.
14. St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week's Rank: 15)
The Cardinals are what people think the Astros are—an older MLB team fighting to compete. What makes St. Louis better is that they find ways to win both offensively and defensively.
13. Washington Nationals (Last Week's Rank: 24)
Don’t count the Nationals out. They’re one game back from .500 and have won eight of their last nine games.
12. San Diego Padres (Last Week's Rank: 7)
The Padres are one game behind .500 and second in the NL West standings. This team has the talent, but it has to play well day to day, not series to series.
11. Boston Red Sox (Last Week's Rank: 12)
The Red Sox went 4-2 this week and won their series against the Yankees. Regarding moral victories, this week was a huge one for Boston.
10. Atlanta Braves (Last Week's Rank: 10)
The Braves snapped a long losing streak this week. The tough times were expected after Ronald Acuna Jr.’s injury, and they should be back to winning this week.
9. Minnesota Twins (Last Week's Rank: 11)
The Minnesota Twins went 5-0 this week, thanks to their fantastic offense. They scored six or more runs in every game, and HRs were their key to victory.
8. Seattle Mariners (Last Week's Rank: 9)
The Seattle Mariners have gone 8-1 in the last nine games. This streaky MLB team can make a huge run in the postseason with its play. Their biggest weakness is their offense, which ranks in the bottom ten of all major offensive statistics.
7. Kansas City Royals (Last Week's Rank: 6)
The Kansas City Royals are one of the best teams in baseball because they constantly overcome adversity. But they’re another team that struggles against top competition.
6. Cleveland Guardians (Last Week's Rank: 5)
The Cleveland Guardians went 3-3 last week. This team continues to shock fans, leading their division and close to 20 games over .500.
5. Milwaukee Brewers (Last Week's Rank: 8)
The Milwaukee Brewers do everything well. They play good offense and defense, and they win however possible. This team will likely win the NL Central and be a problem for teams in the playoffs.
4. New York Yankees (Last Week's Rank: 4)
The New York Yankees have the best record in baseball, but that doesn’t make them the best. They still struggle to defeat their divisional foe, the Orioles, and you have to wonder if their offense can continue this success.
3. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week's Rank: 2)
The Los Angeles Dodgers suffered a huge loss this week with the injury to Mookie Betts; luckily, they still have Shohei Ohtani, Freddie Freeman, Tescor Hernandez, Will Smith, and Max Muncy. The injury might hurt Betts MVP and All-Star chances, but it won’t hurt the team.
2. Philadelphia Phillies (Last Week's Rank: 1)
The Phillies have won games through injuries, a strict schedule, and bad weather. This MLB team has no flaws and continues to show the rest of the league why.
1. Baltimore Orioles (Last Week's Rank: 3)
The Baltimore Orioles rank third in overall record, but they play their best against the best. This week, they took down the Phillies and Braves in their series; this week, they will take on the Yankees and look to continue that dominance.
