After an exciting MLB season, the playoffs are here, and it’s win, or you’re done the rest of the way. Here are the final Power Rankings for the 2024 MLB Season.
Which teams have the highest rankings after the final day of the 2024 MLB regular season?
30. Chicago White Sox (Last Week's Rank: 30)
You guessed it. During the middle of the season, I said this might be the worst team ever, and I was right. The 2024 Chicago White Sox holds the record for the most losses in a season with 121.
29. Miami Marlins (Last Week's Rank: 29)
Miami entered the season with high hopes that fell short. They began with multiple former All-Stars and ended with 100 losses. It was a tough year, but their midseason rebuild will likely pay off in the next few years.
28. Colorado Rockies (Last Week's Rank: 28)
While the Rockies lost more games than the Marlins, their more significant problem was the division Colorado was in. The NL West was outstanding this season, with two top-five teams and another potential playoff team.

27. Los Angeles Angels (Last Week's Rank: 27)
After losing Shohei Ohtani in the off-season to the Dodgers, the Angels had little hope for this season. After Mike Trout was injured early in the season, the little bit of hope they had was gone.
26. Oakland Athletics (Last Week's Rank 26)
Nothing was expected of Oakland this season as they played their last games in the city last week. The roster developed throughout the season, and they will be better next year.
25. Toronto Blue Jays (Last Week's Rank 23)
The Blue Jays had one of the most disappointing seasons as a team this year. Opposite the Marlins, Toronto kept their stars at the trade deadline even with little chance to make the postseason.

24. Washington Nationals (Last Week's Rank 25)
The Nationals season wasn’t good, but they accomplished their goal. All their best prospects were called up and got quality time in the majors for next season.
23. Tampa Bay Rays (Last Week's Rank: 17)
The Rays weren’t expected to do much this season, but their offense played much better than expected. Ray’s biggest problem was having a top-ten pitching staff with a bottom-five offense in an extremely competitive division.
22. St. Louis Cardinals (Last Week's Rank: 19)
The veteran Cardinals finished the season four games above .500 with playoff hopes up until the season’s final week. St. Louis struggled to start the year, which ultimately slowed them down.
21. Pittsburgh Pirates (Last Week's Rank: 24)
The Pirates will be one of the toughest teams to beat next season. The offense continues to mature, and their pitching staff is one of the best in the MLB.
20. Texas Rangers (Last Week's Rank: 21)
The Rangers were a disappointment in 2024, missing the MLB playoffs a year after winning the World Series. Their offense just next found the consistency needed to make the postseason.
19. Cincinnati Reds (Last Week's Rank: 22)
The Reds gave up in the second half of the season, but when their start proved how good they actually were. In May, Cincinnati was one of the best teams in the league. But by the end of the season, they finished below .500 because of their poor batting average.
18. Chicago Cubs (Last Week's Rank: 18)
The Cubs finished the season in the middle of the league, but when they were hot, they were unbeatable. They have a young team, so the future is promising.
17. San Francisco Giants (Last Week's Rank: 21)
San Francisco, like Oakland and Washington, had a great time calling up prospects this season and watching their young talent improve. Most important was Heliot Ramos, who played amazingly in the second half of the season.
16. Seattle Mariners (Last Week's Rank: 14)
Even with midseason trades, Seattle couldn’t make the playoffs. To start the year, they had a lead in the NL West. But they allowed the Astros to come back and take the division.
15. Boston Red Sox (Last Week's Rank: 16)
Boston had a dominant bullpen to start the year, but their offense rarely matched their energy. A few more critical bats in the Boston lineup could make them one of the best in the league next season.
14. Atlanta Braves (Last Week's Rank: 15)
The Atlanta Braves snuck into the MLB postseason while battling injuries. They won the very last game of the 2024 season to make the postseason, so they really fought until the last second.
13. Minnesota Twins (Last Week's Rank: 12)
The Twins had a productive year and scored many runs, but in the end, they fell short in the Wild Card Race.
12. Kansas City Royals (Last Week's Rank: 13)
Thanks to Bobby Whitt Jr., the Royals made the postseason. If it wasn’t for Aaron Jude, he’d likely win AL MVP, but Kansas City was carried by his bat this year as he led the team in HR’s HR, Batting Average, and runs.
11. Houston Astros (Last Week's Rank: 10)
The Astros made the postseason, which is no surprise to anyone in Houston. Their team played exceptionally well during the second half of the season and added key pieces that gave them boosts when needed.
10. Detroit Tigers (Last Week's Rank: 11)
The Tigers found their spark in August, going 15-5 over their last 20 games. The streak allowed them to jump the Mariners and Twins for the last AL Wild Card spot.
9. Arizona Diamondbacks (Last Week's Rank: 8)
The Diamondbacks were left out of the playoffs even after an incredible second half of the season. Their year fell short in a competitive NL Wild Card race.
8. New York Mets (Last Week's Rank: 7)
The Mets are playoff-bound! After a dramatic comeback victory on Monday, The Mets secured a Wild Card Spot; their incredible winning streaks pushed them to the playoffs after a slow start.
7. Baltimore Orioles (Last Week's Rank: 9)
The Orioles were predicted to be the best team in the AL this season. While that didn’t happen, they were still a top team. The Orioles didn’t finish their season in the best way, losing multiple series in the last few weeks. But they still have a chance to win the World Series.
6. Milwaukee Brewers (Last Week's Rank: 6)
The Brewers deserve a lot of credit for how their offense performed this season. They finished in the top ten in runs, battering average, and base percentage, which led them to win the NL Central easily.
5. Cleveland Guardians (Last Week's Rank: 5)
The Guardians were remarkable this season. Before the season, many predicted they would miss the playoffs only to win 92 games.
4. New York Yankees (Last Week's Rank: 3)
The New York Yankees were the best team in the American League this season, thanks to their new outfielder, Juan Soto. Pairing him with Aaron Judge created one of the most dangerous one-two punches in the game.
3. San Diego Padres (Last Week's Rank: 4)
The Padres had a rollercoaster of a season, but their lineup carried them through. Quietly, this is one of the best rosters in the league, with a ton of experience from top to bottom.
2. Philadelphia Phillies (Last Week's Rank: 2)
The Phillies not only had a top offense in baseball this season, their pitching staff was just as good. Both units finished in the top five in the league, and they will be a team you don’t want to play in during Red October.
1. Los Angeles Dodgers (Last Week's Rank: 1)
The Dodgers were expected to be the best team in baseball, and they did exactly that. With the addition of Shohei Ohtani, they’ve been tough to beat all season and will be a tough out in the postseason.
