A Toronto Blue Jays fan is in good spirits after suffering a gnarly facial injury from a foul ball during Sunday’s home game at the Rogers Centre.
The Toronto Blue Jays completed a three-game weekend series against the AL East rival Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon. During the game, Blue Jays fan Liz McGuire got hit in the face after Toronto shortstop Bo Bichette hit a 110 MPH foul ball out of play.
McGuire shared two photos of the gruesome-looking injury on her X/Twitter account. But incredibly, she stayed til the end of the game and made a humorous joke about not coming away with the baseball:
Surely, the Toronto Blue Jays will give her some gifts (free tickets and/or signed merchandise, perhaps) if they hear the news. On the bright side, Topps announced that they’re producing 110 baseball cards of McGuire, and all of them are being sent to her:

Fortunately for McGuire, her decision to fight through the pain and stay for the end of the game was worthwhile. The Blue Jays hung on for a tight 5-2 victory over the Rays to avoid a humiliating sweep.
Toronto Blue Jays Are Off To A Sluggish Start
Coming off a second straight AL Wild Card berth, the Blue Jays were expected to compete for a playoff spot again. But a struggling offense and a leaky bullpen have contributed to a miserable 21-25 start that had them 10.5 games behind the New York Yankees for tops in the AL East entering Monday.
The Blue Jays made some progress by avoiding a sweep against Tampa, and they continued the momentum with a 9-3 blowout victory against the Chicago White Sox on Monday afternoon.
There’s still plenty of time left for the Blue Jays to turn the season around, but they may be forced to undergo a trade deadline firesale if things don’t improve over the next two months.
