Social media detectives think they’ve found a hint regarding Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s next potential landing spot.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is signed through the 2025 season, and trade rumors have mounted amid a frustrating season for the Toronto Blue Jays. They’re on pace to finish below .500 for the first time since 2019, Vladdy’s rookie season.
On Wednesday, the 25-year-old Guerrero was spotted with a brand new haircut after spotting the dreadlocks for his entire professional career:
Some heads-up fans suggested that the haircut might mean that Guerrero Jr. will be traded to the New York Yankees. As many baseball fans know, the Yankees have had a near-50-year ban on long hair and beards.

Obviously, any big-named player in trade rumors has to be mentioned as a possible target for the Yankees or Los Angeles Dodgers. Those two teams have the financial resources to pay Vladdy Jr. long-term and have deep farm systems to present the Blue Jays with enticing offers, after all.
There aren’t any indicators that the Blue Jays are shopping Guerrero Jr., but GM Ross Atkins might have no choice if the team continues to fall further and further out of the playoff race.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Would Make Yankees The Team To Beat
The Yankees already look like the overwhelming favorites to win the American League thanks to the superstar duo of Aaron Judge and prized offseason trade acquisition Juan Soto. Now, imagine they were to add another young stud to that lineup.
Though Guerrero Jr. hasn’t come close to replicating the career season he had in 2021, he’s still one of the best first basemen in baseball. He’s still drawing walks at a high rate, and Vladdy could easily regain that 40-plus homerun power in the hitter-friendly Yankee Stadium.
But of course, the Yankees would face immense competition in a potential trade for Vladdy Jr. if he were to hit the trade block.
