The Wednesday night game between the New York Yankees and the Baltimore Orioles turned out to be a worrying scene as a sideline cameraman was hit in the forehead by an accidental overthrow and had to spend the night in a hospital.
Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson was trying to get Anthony Volpe out during a fifth-inning play and was a bit too overzealous on his throw, hitting YES Network cameraman Pete Sendel flush in the forehead.
As you can see in the video below, Sendel goes down immediately after being hit. He was strapped to a backboard after trainers rushed to help him and remained in good spirits on his way off the pitch, giving the crowd a wave.
YES Network later confirmed he was conscious and undergoing further examination at a local medical facility.
Yankees manager Aaron Boone said the incident was horrifying after the game, which New York lost 6-3.
“Definitely praying for him,” Boone said. “It was good to see him, obviously, coherent and obviously raising his hand going off.”

YES Network has also since disclosed that the cameraman suffered an orbital fracture but is resting at home. “He and his family appreciate everyone’s support,” they noted.
