Pete Alonso’s rumors continue to swirl as more teams emerge as contenders for the slugger. The New York Mets have Juan Soto and they have not offered Alonso a contract that suits him. Alonso declined his qualifying offer and the Mets were reportedly considering a short-term deal worth $90 million.
Alonso is looking for something long-term. The slugger had an excellent 2024 season after smashing 34 home runs. The Mets would not have made it past the Wild Card round if it was not for Alonso. Despite his contribution, the team has shifted their focus to other stars, leaving Alonso open in the market.
The Mets want Alonso back in Queens, but at a lower price. A number of team’s have already expressed their interest in signing Alonso, but one shocking AL West team has emerged as a potential landing spot.
The latest Pete Alonso rumors suggest the Los Angeles Angels are expected to be in for a deal. According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Angels would love to have Alonso in their starting lineup. That said, Alonso will play alongside MLB superstar Mike Trout. Alonso is eager to win, and his chances of doing that with Trout are pretty possible.

The Mets are clear about their short-term duration with Alonso. Steve Cohen is capable of signing him, but they are holding on to see how far it goes. Alonso wants a long-term contract, but the Mets don’t.
The four-time All-Star will be open to teams that give me more years of playing time. Alonso would also love the idea of playing along with veteran slugger Mike Trout. A reunion with the Mets seems to be declining further as time slips away.
