Paul Goldschmidt has been a free agent for a long time despite a few teams expressing interest in the slugger. Now that Christian Walker has signed a three-year $60 million deal with the Houston Astros, the doors have opened wider for Goldschmidt.
Goldschmidt is at the tail end of his career with just a few years remaining. It’s unlikely that the veteran will sign a long-term deal with a team at 37. There is quite a demand for first baseman, but a number of players are already on the free agent list.
Anthony Rizzo, Pete Alonso, Carlos Santana, and Justin Turner are a few first basemen. However, Goldschmidt seems to have a slight demand at his end. The Yankees are one of Goldschmidt’s favorite landing spots, and Aaron Judge might be able to help the team seal a deal.
Paul Goldschmidt won the 2022 NL MVP Award the same year Aaron Judge won the AL MVP. It was a special moment for Goldschmidt to win the MVP alongside Judge. The star slugger mentioned that he has huge respect for Judge. The duo met in Florida during the 2022 offseason and had lunch together.

“I’m just a big fan of his, and he’s one of the best hitters on the planet, so I was wanting to learn from him. Judge is one of the best people around, too, because everyone that’s ever played with him talks so highly about him,” Paul Goldschmidt said via MLB.
Yankees Could Lure Paul Goldschmidt With The Help Of Aaron Judge
The Yankees have a great chance to lure Paul Goldschmidt with the help of Aaron Judge. All they need to do is reach out and give him an offer he can’t refuse. The Yanks could also look at a short-term deal for a year or two.

Goldschmidt has plenty of respect for Judge, and playing with him on the same team will be a dream come true. It will also be his last opportunity to play with someone he admires in the game.
The Yankees need to beat their opponents and their offers for Goldschmidt. Perhaps an extra year of playing ball with Aaron Judge could work. The Yanks have also hinted at a reunion with Anthony Rizzo.
