Nolan Arenado is expected to part ways with the St. Louis Cardinals. The veteran slugger has gathered interest from a few teams and his expected to sign sometime before spring training. The Houston Astros have shown interest Arenado but things did not work out well between the Cardinals.
The Cardinals will try their best to trade Arenado and ease their financial burden. However, Arenado is not demanding a trade and holds a no-trade clause. Arenado has a slight demand to be a third baseman. It’s unsure if he wants to leave St. Louis, but if a good opportunity calls, he might consider joining a team that could make the playoffs.
At present, the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees have shown interest in acquiring the star slugger. Not so long ago, both AL East teams were targeting Juan Soto. Boston is believed to have enough money to make this trade possible.
Additionally, the New York Yankees have been considering Arenado. The Yanks have made significant trade deals but still seem to have some extra cash. That said, they are expected to offer the Cardinals a deal.
Cardinals Are Ready To Consider Multiple Trade Options For Nolan Arenado
The St. Louis Cardinals are believed to go all out to trade Nolan Arenado. The franchise’s President of Baseball Operations, John Mozeliak, made it clear that they are open to sending him to another team.
Mozeliak also mentioned that trading Nolan Arenado has a few complexities. According to Mozeliak, they are waiting for a green signal for Arenado.

“These decisions are not something we ever take lightly. Arenado is not demanding a trade. He’s not telling me I have to do it, but I think in the best interest of both sides, I’d like to try to find him someplace to land,” Mozeliak said via Clutch Points.
The Cardinals will listen to offers, but it’s left up to Arenado to decide where he wants to go. With the Yankees and Red Sox behind him, there is a high possibility that Arenado will sign with another team.
The Red Sox are expected to go all out for the slugger, but Alex Bregman is expected to sign before him. The Yankees have an eye on Arenado but are also considering Anthony Santander.
