According to a new study, Bryce Harper is no longer the most hated player in Major League Baseball, a title he has held proudly since making his debut back in 2012.
Since Opening Day in April, BetOnline has been tracking what MLB players have received the most hate on Twitter. The study includes phrases like “I hate Bryce Harper,” “Bryce Harper sucks,” “Bryce Harper is overrated,” “I can’t stand Bryce Harper,” “Bryce Harper is the worst,” and other remarks towards him as well as other players around the league.
The study found that San Diego Padres third baseman Manny Machado and Houston Astros second baseman José Altuve received more hate than Harper:
Altuve continues to be the face of the Houston Astros’ 2017 sign-stealing scandal, even if there’s some evidence to suggest he had much less involvement in the cheating than many of his teammates did.
Former Houston Astros Carlos Correa, who is now a member of the Minnesota Twins, is sitting pretty in the top-5. In total, the Houston Astros have 4 players on the list.
The Yankees have 5 players while the Dodgers have 4 players on the list.
