The New York Yankees have parted ways with Nester Cortes Jr. after four long years. Cortes played a significant role for the Yanks, but his dwindling performance sent him to the Milwaukee Brewers. The Yanks have acquired All-Star closer Devin Williams from Milwaukee.
It is reported that the Bronx Bombers have sent Cortes along with Caleb Durbin and some cash. Cortes’ stint in pinstripes has come to an end. The Yankees have bolstered their bullpen by acquiring Williams.
The Yankees took to X and shared a post thanking the pitcher for his time in the Bronx. Nestor’s departure had mixed reactions. Surprisingly, Dodgers fans started thanking Nestor Cortes Jr. as well. It turns out that the fans were thanking the pitcher for blowing Game 1 of the World Series after surrendering a grand slam to Freddie Freeman.

Nestor Cortes Jr. Is Predicted To Make $8.3 Million With The Brewers
The Brewers have yet to touch upon Nestor Cortes’ contract details. However, it’s predicted that the pitcher is set to make around $8.3 million with the team. At present, Cortes’ deal is expected to be for one year.
The Yankees gave Cortes a $85,000 signing bonus, but the Brewers have yet to reveal it. Nestor Cortes had some ups and downs in his 2024 season after finishing with a 9-10 record. He had a 3.77 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP.
Cortes’ biggest downfall was when he surrendered a grand slam against Freeman. The Yankees lost Game 1 of the World Series after his pitch. The Bronx Bombers are expected to sign Cody Bellinger to bolster their offense.
