All-Star outfielder Luis Robert Jr. is a strong candidate to be moved by the last place leading up to the July 30 MLB trade deadline.
The 26-year-old Luis Robert Jr. has been one of the few productive players on a White Sox team that holds the worst record in baseball (27-71) coming out of the All-Star Break. The good news is that GM Chris Getz has several quality trade chips that can net a strong return and bolster this team’s farm system.
Perhaps no player on the “South Siders” will be more coveted ahead of the trade deadline than Robert Jr. He’s having a down season for his standards (batting .236 with 11 homers, 23 RBI and an OPS of .804). Still, Robert Jr.’s track record suggests that positive regression is on the way.
Jim Bowden of The Athletic proposed a massive trade proposal that has Chicago dealing Luis Robert Jr., All-Star pitcher Garrett Crochet and reliever Michael Kopech in exchange for seven of the Dodgers’ top prospects: Pitchers Nick Frasso, Kyle Hurt, Payton Martin, Justin Wrobleski, infielder Dalton Rushing, shortstop Emil Morales and outfielder Andy Pages:
“The Dodgers have a loaded farm system and the major-league roster to win it all now, so why not finish the job with one mammoth blockbuster deal? Luis Robert Jr. improves their defense in center field and adds length to the bottom half of the lineup.
Garrett Crochet fits into the top of the rotation behind Tyler Glasnow and Yoshinobu Yamamoto once the latter returns from the injured list. Michael Kopech gives them another power arm option for the back of their bullpen. Robert is under team control through 2027, Crochet is under control through 2026 and Kopech is under control through 2025.”

The Dodgers love to swing big at the trade deadline, as evidenced by the moves for Yu Darvish (2017), Manny Machado (2018), Trea Turner and Max Scherzer (2021). So it wouldn’t be a surprise if they were the winners of the Luis Robert Jr. and/or Garett Crochet trade sweepstakes.
Luis Robert Jr. Would Make Dodgers Overwhelming World Series Favorites
The Dodgers have three MVP-caliber hitters in Mookie Betts, $700 million man Shohei Ohtai and Freddie Freeman, along with veteran slugger Max Muncy.
But the Dodgers need more power and speed at the bottom of their lineup, and Luis Robert Jr. would fill that void. He’s a career .275 hitter who hit a career-high 38 homers last season, so there’s good reason to believe that Robert Jr. would immediately regain his All-Star form on a dangerous Dodgers team.
