The New York Yankees already have a Plan B in place if Juan Soto chooses to sign with the New York Mets or any other team. The Bronx Bombers have done everything in their power to bring back Soto. Now, they have nothing to do but wait for the slugger to decide, which they expect to be around this weekend.
The Yanks have already spoken to top free-agent pitchers Corbin Burnes and Max Fried. Alex Bregman is also rumored to be a backup plan. It’s clear that they want to bolster their starting rotation.
The Yankees have Gerrit Cole leading the team along with Carlos Rodon, Nestor Cortes Jr., Luis Gil, and Marcus Stroman. However, Stroman has not been very effective. Burnes or Fried will be perfect, as the Yanks could have one of the most dangerous starting rotations.
The Yankees had Zoom calls with Burnes and Fried. However, they have a tough competition ahead, with other teams eyeing both pitchers. According to the New York Post, Brian Cashman, Aaron Boone, and the team pitching coach, Matt Blake, had spoken to Burnes and Fried.
The Yanks seem to have their options right as they are ready with a backup plan. Signing Burnes and Fried clearly depends on Soto’s contract.
Yankees Are Also Linked With Willy Adames As A Backup Plan
The Yanks are ready for Soto’s decision; whether he signs in the Bronx or not, they seem to have everything figured out. Apart from Burnes and Fried, they are liked with Willy Adames as another backup plan.

The Yanks will sign players this offseason, regardless of Soto. Failing to sing Soto will give them a lot of money. Steinbrenner will use that cash to get some talented sluggers. Adames had a decent career with the Brew-Crew after smashing a career-high of 32 home runs.
Adames to the Bronx will be a good addition, but the team might need to make a few adjustments. The Bronx Bombers could experiment and move Anthony Volpe to second base. All this is possible only if Soto signs with another team. At present, the Mets and the Yanks are top suitors for Soto.
