Juan Soto is undoubtedly one of the most famous MLB players of his time. Soto’s swift rise in the big leagues has garnered fame in baseball worldwide. The All-Star slugger has a huge fan following, but not everyone thinks his value is worth it.
Soto is a free agent with several teams pursuing him in the off-season. His value increased drastically after his excellent stint with the New York Yankees in 2024. Rumors are that Soto could land a long-term deal with numbers close to Shohei Ohtani’s contract.
Juan Soto is likely to see something in the neighborhood of $500 to $600 million spread out across terms of 10 to 12 years.

Some believe that Juan Soto will land the second-largest contract in MLB. With $600 million as the projected value, it’s possible for the star slugger to easily reach that number. However, MLB sportscaster Dan Patrick believes Soto is not worth the price.
“I don’t want him. I am anti-Soto, not interested. It’s so much money over so many years. I just have no interest in that. Ohtani’s special he’s unique, there’s no one like him. Juan Soto, a talented player bounced around a couple of teams already. If I’m paying that kind of money, I want you to be a gate attraction,” Patrick said in the Dan Patrick YouTube podcast.
Patrick further stated that Soto is not a box office player, and fans turn up to see Aaron Judge and Ohtani.
“Juan Soto is not a box office star. Aaron Judge, they show up to see him. Ohtani, they show up to see him. I’m not spending $600 million on him (Juan Soto). Patrick continued.
