![MLB Reporter Urges The Red Sox To Pursue Alex Bregman With A Lucrative Deal](https://www.totalprosports.com/wp-content/uploads/2025/02/Alex-Bregman-1-1024x563.jpg)
Alex Bregman is now the top free agent left in the market. Pete Alonso has reunited with the Mets, but Breggy is still waiting for the right offer. Several teams, including the Boston Red Sox, are linked to the third baseman.
The slugger has a demand that not all teams are ready to offer. Bregman is looking for a long-term deal. The Houston Astros took a step back after Bregman was reportedly seeking close to $200 million. Dana Brown said the Astros still have their offer of $156 million open. However, Breggy seems to be waiting for a better chance.
Now that Alonso has agreed to a short-term deal with the Mets, Alex Bregman can do the same. According to MLB reporter Dan Roche, the Red Sox should offer the slugger a lucrative short-term deal.
“If Bregman and Boras are looking for and have been offered a six-year with an average annual value of $26 million, go three years and $100 million. Go way above what that AAV was going to be on a six-year deal and give him an opt-out after one or two years. Make it a Scott Boras win,” Roche said.

The reporter continued to urge the Red Sox to give him a short-term and player-friendly deal.
“Offer him a shorter-term, player-friendly deal. Make it for Bregman and get that deal done. That would set this team up to be a playoff team through and through,” Roche said via CBS News.

Chicago Cubs Remain A Top Suitor For Alex Bregman
The Red Sox are not the only ones trying to make things work with Bregman. The slugger has nearly five teams behind him. The Toronto Blue Jays and the Detroit Tigers are also in the mix to sign him. The Tigers stand a better shot apart from the Blue Jays, but the Cubs are now a top suitor.
Spotrac has projected Bregman to sign a deal worth $120 million. Chicago has a top prospect who they are trying to save after the 2024 season. The Cubs will try to keep Matt Shaw as a backup plan. Adding Alex Bregman will undoubtedly be a perfect fit in Boston. The team will also be able to take it slow with Shaw.
Bregman is expected to sign with a team before the regular season. The Red Sox must battle it out with the Cubs to win Bregman. On the other hand, Anthony Rizzo’s rumors are picking up after Pete Alonso’s signing with the Mets.
