The Boston Red Sox were among several teams rumored to pursue Juan Soto. The MLB winter meetings have begun, and teams are starting to sign free agents before it’s too late. Yet, Boston seems to be having a slow winter as they missed out on Soto and let go of Max Fried and Nathan Eovaldi.
As a team, there is plenty of room for improvement, and the franchise must get serious if they want to make the playoffs. According to MLB insider Jeff Passan, Boston has money and must go all in to pursue an elite slugger and ace pitcher. Passan also believes that the Red Sox are one team to watch out for this winter.
“I think they kinda have to at this point because this is an organization that won four World Series over a 15-year period. Look, the Red Sox have money. They have the opportunity to go out there and get guys, and whether it is Alex Bregman or Corbin Burnes, they need to do it. They got the opportunity to turn this team over the next five years into something really special,” Passan said via ESPN MLB.
Can The Red Sox Pivot Alex Bregman And Corbin Burnes?
The Red Sox need to make a few moves before it’s too late. They have a great chance to sign Alex Bregman and Corbin Burnes. However, they need to put things together soon to work in their favor.
Passan believes that Boston should go all out to acquire at least two players to be more competitive. Boston has one of the best farm systems and could easily emerge as a dominant team.

The latest rumor is that Boston is ready to make a competitive offer for Corbin Burns. With Fried gone, there are not a few stars available on the free-agent market. The Red Sox will not want to miss their opportunity with Burnes.
As far as Bregman goes, Boston will have a tough competition with the Houston Astros. Bregman is sure to sign with a team this offseason, and that could be the Red Sox. On the other hand, Boston’s rival, the New York Yankees, is expected to sign more players to their team.
