Walker Buehler earned the last strikeout for the Los Angeles Dodgers to win the World Series. Buehler had a shaky start in 2024, holding a terrible 5.18 ERA with a 1-6 record. Injuries made things worse for the pitcher, but he prevailed in the end and helped the Dodgers win.
Despite coming in and pitching for the team during the World Series, the Dodgers have not offered Buehler a qualifying offer. The 30-year-old has been a Dodger for his entire career, but he’s hit the free agent market. There’s been no news about the Dodgers going after Walker Buehler for now.
With a few other teams interested in signing him, many believe that the Dodgers might not pursue the pitcher. MLB insider Ken Rosenthal feels that the Dodgers will not pursue Buehler. However, Teoscar Hernandez stands a better chance.
“I don’t expect Walker Buehler to be back, but I do expect Teoscar Hernández to be back. The Dodgers are going to kick around with Juan Soto. Make an offer here and there, do whatever they want to do, but they always seem like a long shot for him,” Rosenthal said.
Blake Snell’s Signing With The Dodgers Raises Questions For Walker Buehler
The Dodgers offered Blake Snell a contract instead of Walker Buehler. It’s pretty clear that they prefer Snell over their long-time pitcher. The Dodgers have bolstered their pitching rotation by adding Snell. The chances of going after Buehler are pretty slim.

Rosenthal believes that since they have addressed their pitching issues, they could go ahead and sign Hernandez.
“They can go sign Teoscar Hernandez now bring him back he was a great contributor last year. They’re in a much stronger position now going into next season than they were after the season ended when they were facing the loses of Walker Buehler and Jack Flaherty,” Rosenthal continued.
Buehler might find a new team after all since the Dodgers remain silent. The good news is that a few teams have already shown interest in the World Series winner, including the New York Yankees.
