It’s hard to see a top slugger like Alex Bregman still on the free-agent market. Despite his incredible numbers, teams have not been able to match up to Bregman’s demand. Astros’ GM Dana Brown said they will do their best to bring back Bregman. However, they were unable to match his $200 million request.
Alex Bregman would love to remain in Houston if given the opportunity. Yet, there seems to be a huge gap that the Astros are not able to cover. The Astros must act quickly and get close to Bregman’s demand. With time slipping away, his chances of going back to Houston are rather slim.
According to MLB Insider Jon Morosi, the Red Sox could spoil Bregman’s reunion with the Astros. Morosi believes that Boston has a clear path to pursue the slugger.
“I believe right now there is at least as much of a chance of Bregman going to Boston as Bregman going to Houston. Let’s remember the essential reason why the Red Sox loom as possible candidate to invent heavily in someone like Alex Bregman. They made a big offer to Soto. They made a big offer to Fried. There is strong capacity for the Red Sox to sign Bregman,” Morosi said via MLB.com.
Morosi’s words could come true, especially since the Red Sox were heavy contenders for pursuing Soto.
Alex Bregman Continues To Be A Huge Favorite For The Yankees And Tigers
Several teams have kept an eye on Bregman since he entered the free-agent market. The 30-year-old can play as a third baseman and as a shortstop. The Detroit Tigers have been in pursuit of Bregman, but the competition is pretty high.

Additionally, the Yankees are huge favorites to be in on Bregman. Boston can easily sign another top free agent, and so can the Yankees. Both teams have been in pursuit of Soto, and the Red Sox are believed to have money.
This makes things hard for the Astros if they don’t make a move soon. Bregman is a top free agent and could sign anytime if he gets his desired amount. For now, the Yanks and the Red Sox are top destinations for the two-time World Series winner.
