Juan Soto is predicted to bag the second-biggest contract in the MLB after Shohei Ohtani. Soto’s free agency rumors keep getting bigger as the Yankees star is expected to find a team soon. The New York Mets, Toronto Blue Jays, and several other teams have been in pursuit of Soto, including the Los Angeles Dodgers.
However, the Dodgers might drop out of Soto’s sweepstakes for a few reasons. MLB insider Jeff Passan believes the other teams have a better chance of signing the free agent. It also depends on Scott Boras and his challenging bargaining skills. Hence, the chances of the Dodgers going aboard with another blockbuster deal are pretty slim.
“The Dodgers won’t chase after Soto. Ohtani’s presence at designated hitter would leave them with limited options should Soto’s defensive range force a move, but would gladly consider him in the unlikely event his market softens,” Passan wrote via ESPN.

Passan’s words make sense since the Boys in Blue do not need to make another huge deal. Moreover, they won the World Series without Juan Soto by playing against him. With Ohtani’s blockbuster deal, the Dodgers are unlikely to sign him.
Passan also stated that Soto could settle with a team before the end of this year. “Soon enough, perhaps even before the winter meetings begin Dec. 9, we’ll learn where Soto lands. This isn’t going to be something that stretches into the new year. The biggest deal ever by pure value when factoring Ohtani’s deferrals is coming,” Passan wrote.

Juan Soto To Meet With More Than 5 Teams
Soto has reportedly met with the Toronto Blue Jays and is set to meet with several other teams. Hal Steinbrenner and Steve Cohen will fly down to meet Soto and his agent, Scott Boras. In addition to the Mets and the Yankees, Soto is rumored to meet with the Boston Red Sox. However, he has narrowed down his search to four teams.
The Blue Jays have also gathered interest and are one of the favorite teams to sign Soto. Moreover, Soto is keen on playing with a team that wants to win. That said, the Yankees and Mets stand a huge chance. The Red Sox might not stand a chance against both New York teams.
